Ben’s Homestay owns and operates several farmlands and paddy fields. The Pokkali rice fields are the most famous ones. This peculiar type of prawn and rice farming is native to Kerala. During the seafood season, the field is filled with prawns and shrimps of all sizes. Once they are harvested, the faeces and waste of the prawns forms the base for paddy cultivation in the next season. This natural fertilisation process is sustainable and eco-friendly.
